Meet the Team

Little Trees Forest School is a safe space for children to play and discover their own bounders by giving them an opportunity to learn real life skills and risks.

As Forest School Practitioners  we carefully manage every session by observing the children and facilitating their play.

Every activity is Risk benefit assessed before and throughout the sessions and will be run by a qualified level 3 Forest School practitioner.

Every staff member is DBS checked and has undergone safeguarding and prevent training , there is always at least one member of staff who is outdoor first aid trained on site.

I've been working with children in a classroom setting for 13 years. My affinity for nature, the outdoors, and child education led me to Forest School, where I became a Level 3 Forest School practitioner in 2018.

In early 2022, I embarked on a significant journey by establishing Little Trees Forest School, allowing me to work in the woods full-time.

My passion lies in educating children outdoors through play. We embrace the outdoors throughout the year, utilizing what each season offers to teach care and respect for the environment.

The children gain practical life skills such as tool use, fire lighting, problem-solving, and are encouraged to take manageable risks within a safe and closely supervised setting.

Recently, I completed training to become a Therapeutic Forest School leader, which included instruction from a clinical psychologist on adult mental health.

This has fueled my passion for encouraging adults to engage with nature. I believe that spending more time outdoors, with active hands, can lead to a tranquil mind, and nature facilitates this process.

Additionally, I am trained in mental health first aid and outdoor first aid.

I am a qualified level 3 Forest School leader and have over 25 years' experience working with children and young people through youth work, pastoral support and within a Montessori nursery setting.

I caught the Forest School bug whilst taking my youngest child to stay and play sessions. I saw first hand how interactions with others whilst in a natural setting gave him confidence and respect for the environment around him. I have been working at Little Trees for two years and have been privileged to see how the impact of learning through play and exploration has had on the children/young people who attend.

I feel very lucky to work in such a magical place with wonderful people.

BA(hons) in Education

PGCE in Primary Education

National Award for SEN Coordination.

Before beginning my forest school adventure I worked for over 20 years in various primary schools. My qualifications include a BA(hons) in Education, a PGCE in Primary Education and the National Award for SEN Coordination.

At the start of 2022 I decided that it was time for a change and so I completed my Level 3 Forest School Leadership course and I haven’t looked back. I love being part of such a supportive and innovative community where children’s well being is at the centre of everything we do.

When I’m not in the woods I enjoy crafting, sewing and gardening. I also have three children who keep me very busy!

I grew up on a farm and have always loved the great outdoors. I went to University in North Wales and when I wasn’t studying for my Psychology degree I was in the mountains. I then spent some time in Canada working on organic sustainable farms before returning to the UK to

become a team leader in a care home, obtaining my Level 3 Certificate in Dementia Care.

In 2016 I went to Canterbury where I qualified as a Primary School Teacher and taught in schools for 7 years. I left ‘indoor’ education in 2023 returning to my farming roots, working at Little Trees Forest School and beginning my yoga teacher training.

I absolutely love being in the woods with children, there are so many learning opportunities and learning is so much easier when your having fun!

I enjoy reading, yoga and have two little wild ones of my own that keep me busy.
